HighSpeed Internet Connections: DSL. with Larry
Sieber. Larry is a Senior Technical Support Engineer working in Network Complex Services, Network Reliability and Operations Center, Qwest Communications. Over 28 yrs with the company and its entities (PNB, USW, Qwest). 3 yrs as a DSL tech support manager. Larry provided final tier trouble mitigation for operational DSL tech support issues from customer PC to ISP.
He said Qwest has doubled the subscribers to DSL from last year and they are installing hundreds of remote dslams each month in their territory (14 states). He also said Qwest is using an OC192 for their backhaul (to the internet).
He talked about Qwest and their VoIP offering and something about MSN Live that Qwest will offer near the end of 2006. Another thing that Qwest has on it’s website is something called “Quick Care” for remote troubleshooting, apparently some software you can download for free. He talked about their all in one product consisting of DirecTV ( >155 Channels ), HSI (DSL 1 M upload and 1.5 M download and digital voice for $86.97. – S, Solberg, SPCUG
